This spring must-read architecture books will be replenished with new editions. With the support of the SAGA Development, a new book by Dutch architect Reinier de Graaf "Four Walls and a Roof: The Complex Nature of a Simple Profession," will be published in Ukraine. The book was first published in 2017, and by this time, it has already become a worldwide bestseller..
Reinier de Graaf is a partner at the OMA, Remo Colhaas` Architectural Bureau and a Director of the AMO Research Center, author of well-known architectural projects and winner of numerous international competitions.
In the book "Four Walls and a Roof", the author reflects on the history and nature of the architect's profession, examines the external and individual factors that influence it, and discusses the foundation of architecture: four walls and a roof over the head. Reinier de Graaf humorously tells interesting stories of his practice and day-to-day work at the OMA Architectural Bureau.
The first translation of the book "Four Walls and a Roof" will be in Ukrainian.
The book will be presented in May at the 12th CANactions International Architectural Festival. Reinier de Graaf will come to Kyiv for the first time to present the "Four Walls and a Roof" to Ukrainian readers.
The Big Idea platform is currently launching a fund-raising effort to publish the book.
Depending on the amount of the contribution, each participant of the crowd-funding will receive a gift: a copy of Reinier de Graaf's book, tickets to the architectural festival or the book "Cities for People" by Jan Gehl.
